Invercargill is Southlands major city, the southern most city in
the country.A population of 50,000 Invercargill has some wonderful
Victorian and Edwardian buildings to visit on your stay.
Bluff , a half hours drive south of Invercargill is where you can
catch a ferry to Stewart Island. 'Dont forget to sample the Bluff
oysters when you are there.'
Stewart Island,the biggest offshore island, is New Zealands newest
national park and is known as Rakiura National Park. The island has a
small population and is relatively unspoilt.
This region also encompasses Milford Sound and the reknown 'Milford
Track'.This walk is from the head of Lake Te Anau to the head of
Milford Sound.The 55km track takes usually three days and can be
completed by an averagely fit adult.
