The Canterbury region has wealth of scenery and activities all within a couple of hours drive of Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island. Known as the 'Garden City' Christchurch has some wonderful parks and gardens.

Canterbury is known for its breeding great rugby players. In recent times  the Canterbury team has dominated rugby in New Zealand and have made up a large portion of the 'All Blacks'.
